I have joined these two locations on one page because, well, I felt like it. And they both start with 'R'. Please note that all photos are copyright to me (unless otherwise attributed).
I didn't cover the Waikaka branch well, really it was just on my way from one place to another! From the book it sounds as though there is a lot more to see, if I ever revisit this are I might spend some more fossicking around here. It's not far from Gore and I wandered off the track to have a look at the aircraft restoration going on at Mandeville (there's some heritage railway activity there as well).
I couldn't see much of the railway formation, but I did stop to have a look at the restored windmill and water tower. |
