Airfix 1/48 Lightning F1

I have at least 4 Airfix Lightnings planned: This F1, an F3 (in 56 Squadron "Firebird" markings of course), a T4 or T5, and an F6. This is the construction record of the F1.

I've sprayed the spine and fin with Tamiya black, and not masking and painting the bare metal. I am using Tamiya Aluminum, tinted with various shades for the panels. It just seemed easier and I couldn't get Alclad 2 locally at the time.

Applying the decals, my goodness there are a lot!
Pretty much finished, and looking like a thoroughbred.

The panel colours are pretty spurious and random, but I like the over all affect. It is a beautiful kit, Airfix at their best.
