Classic FIghters Marlborough 2005 and 2007

I have combined my pages for the Classic fighters Marlborough arishows in 2005 and 2007. I just haven't got enough time (or good photos) to produce two! The 2005 theme was "French", they made a rather impressive attempt to make a replica of the Eiffel Tower out of scaffolding! The 2007 theme was "Aviation in the movies", which gave the participants a chance to dress up (Luke Skywalker, Thunderbirds, Wonderwoman (she had an invisible aeroplane?!), lots of fun.

This page covers the World War one era (roughly), the next covers everything else.

This is the DH-2 replica spotted in the hangar during the 2003 airshow. It flew quite a lot in the 2005 airshow, but was safely ensconced in the Museum by 2007. Apparently it is still maintained in flying condition and relatively easy to extract from the exhibit. A really cool wee plane.

Mr Jackson's Sopwith F.1 Camel replica. Calling it a replica hardly does it justice.

The DH-5, Brisfit, DH-2, and Eiffel Tower. Amazingly the DH-5 has a modern Lycoming buried in its circular cowling.

In 2007 there were no fewer than 7 Triplane replica buzzing around. Only 6 in this shot, I know.

Von somebody or other takes a hit to the engine.

Nieuport vs Triplane

Nieuport sandwich. The WW1 planes are so much easier to photograph than the faster WW2 types.

This Fokker D7 Replica graced the sky over Omaka. Is it the WW1 equivalent of the Me 262?

This SE5a replica has an original engine, no wonder they don't throw it around as much as the Tripes.
